Speaker: Bill Hagerty, United States Senator from Tennessee
PLEASE NOTE: Our August meeting, which normally starts at 6:00PM, will begin at 5:30PM due to Senator Hagerty’s schedule.
Join us for a delightful dinner on Tuesday, August 18, at Carriage Lane Inn.
United States Senator Bill Hagerty was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2020 and is currently serving his first term representing the state of Tennessee. His committee assignments include: U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, & Urban Affairs; U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations; U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations; and the U.S. Senate Committee on Rules & Administration. Before his election to the U.S. Senate, Hagerty served as the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, the world’s third-largest economy and America’s closest ally in the region.
Senator Hagerty has spent his career in business and public service. He began at Boston Consulting Group, where his work took him across five continents, including a three-year assignment in Tokyo, Japan. He later became a venture capital and private equity investor, investing in and serving as an executive and board member for a broad range of companies, including firms listed on the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ.
From 2011 to 2014, Hagerty stepped away from his business career to serve in the Governor’s Cabinet as Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. In that role, he reorganized the department, reducing staff positions by more than 40 percent and saving taxpayers millions of dollars. At the same time, his strategy helped drive significant economic growth, moving Tennessee from an unemployment rate above the national average to the nation’s top state for jobs created through foreign investment. During his tenure, Tennessee was also named State of the Year for Economic Development for an unprecedented two consecutive years. Senator Bill Hagerty
